The Human Development Center is once again a Charity Partner of Grandma’s Marathon! As a Charity Partner, we will have a team of 50 runners, 30 spots for the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon and 20 spots for the Grandma’s Marathon. Our team is half-way full! Running with HDC means there is no entry fee and you bypass the lottery for the Gary Bjorklund Half Marathon. There is a fundraising commitment to join the team. Help raise awareness for HDC and run for a cause in 2017!
For more than 75 years HDC has been a non-profit community mental health agency headquartered in Duluth, Minnesota. We serve the communities of Duluth, Superior, Cloquet, Two Harbors and Grand Marais, as well as the surrounding areas. Our staff of 280 serve nearly 10,000 children and adults each year; people and families who are living in our communities and suffer from mental illness.
The mom who had the courage to leave an abusive situation but needs help dealing with the trauma she and her children have endured as well as learning how to parent effectively. The man whose crippling anxiety wouldn’t allow him to leave his home-now he grocery shops with an outreach worker and has learned how to cope in those situations. The little girl in foster care who struggles because she never learned to trust adults. These are the people who you will be bringing hope to by fundraising for HDC.
