Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)
MAT medications are available for opioid, alcohol, amphetamine, and tobacco use disorders. MAT is an evidence-based practice proven to:
- Reduce the need for inpatient detoxification services, improve patient survival, and sustain long-term recovery.
- Decrease illicit opiate use and criminal activity among people with substance use disorders.
- Increase patients’ ability to gain and maintain employment.
- Improve birth outcomes for pregnant women with substance use disorders.
