Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)

PCIT is a great opportunity for families with young children (ages 2-7 years old) whose behaviors are difficult to manage. Families participate in weekly sessions that provide training for parents on how to manage children’s behavior while improving their relationships with their children. PCIT has been successful with oppositional/defiant problems, aggressive behaviors, Attention Deficit Hyper-Activity Disorder (ADHD), severe temper tantrums, the impact of abuse/neglect, and exposure to alcohol/drugs before birth. PCIT requires a 12–14-week commitment to 1 hour-long sessions per week.
